State of the Author, Start of 2025

My plans for the New Year are always kind of vague, because “Mann tracht un Gott lacht” (Man plans, and God laughs).

-I have a couple thousand words apiece on the final Hunter Healer King book and on the space regency. Probably less far along on either than I was on my Works In Progress at the start of either 2023 or 2024. If it comes down to one or the other, the space regency is going to the wall because I really don’t like leaving a series hanging.

-I have some vague plot bunnies for a 1920s fantasy mystery series, for a prequel to the Star Master books, one or two more Jane Austen remixes, and some prequels/sequels/side-stories to the Hunter Healer King books. They’re unlikely to come to fruition in 2025, but you never know.

–There’s a partially written short story in the Hunter Healer King setting I would like to finish by this summer because I saw an anthology that might be a good fit for it, but that’s always iffy.

-I have replaced the ebook covers for the Star Master duology with new covers using Midjourney AI art, and have replaced both the ebook and print covers for the Jaiya Series in the same fashion. Still to do: print covers for the Star Master books, ebook and print covers for the Jaiya Series all-in-one, and the Ancestors of Jaiya Series individual covers in print and ebook.

-I hope to finally make this the year I put out all-in-one collections for Star Master and Ancestors of Jaiya.

-On the personal improvement front, I hope to continue my studies in python, and maybe work on my physical fitness, which is currently less than impressive.

Here’s a quick review of the year as it looked in my productivity tracker. Please don’t get too excited about the stuff under “brainstorming” – a lot of stuff never gets past that stage with me.
