When you create a space regency setting as kind of a joke about
how that one guy who played Darcy in a no longer surviving tv version of Pride and Prejudice went around blowing up planets in later life…and you realize that the setting you created has perfectly functional plot devices for referencing that chick who went from playing a Royal Decoy in a space opera to playing Lizzie Bennet in a better known P&P adaptation, and that dude who went from playing Mr. Collins in a P&P parody to doing motion capture to recreate the now-deceased Mr. Destroyer of Worlds (see above).
I’m not sure what to do about John Dashwood, Imperial Officer In Charge of Carbon Freezing, or Catherine Morland, Rebel Scum, but unless the current Space Regency turns into some kind of unlikely blockbuster, I probably won’t get around to riffing on those Jane Austen novels, so…not going to worry about it for now.
