I guess the question is, “Will I watch Season 2 when it comes out, and if so, why?”

The short answer is, barring complications, I probably will. There’s a handful of characters I like, a couple more that could seriously improve with better writing, nice production design, no uncle/niece incest (looking at you, House of the Dragon). Also, I kind of want to do a Fall of Atlantis/Numenor type story, and I think watching ROP (probably) bungle it will probably help give me a sense of what not to do. It’s sad that this series will probably go down as a wasted opportunity, but there’s a lot of worse stuff out there.

If that sounds like a resounding “meh,” I’ve never been a fan of the “Worst. Thing. Ever.” line of rhetoric with regard to pop culture. There is always a Worse Thing out there than the Latest “Worst. Thing. Ever.” Trust me. I’ve seen Bad Man’s River. And White Comanche. And Trunk to Cairo. And Tender Dracula. And also, I’m tired of people, wherever they fall on the political spectrum, trying to make me feel guilty about my entertainment choices.
