Plans for 2020

New year, new goals: here’s what I have planned:

-New genre, new publishing approach, possibly new pen name: I plan to continue working on my space opera. I hope to have it drafted, polished, and published by the end of May 2020. I may use one of my other pen names for it, and the initial release will almost certainly be into Kindle Unlimited, which means that it will not initially appear on Barnes and Noble, Apple, Google or Kobo. I may take the book out of KU at some point and expand its release, but I don’t have a timeframe for when that might occur.

-First sequel to space opera project: it’s partially outlined at this point. Once the first one is released, I will focus on writing the sequel. The best case scenario has me somehow rough drafting it over the course of June and July, polishing it in August and September, and somehow getting it published by the end of September. A somewhat more likely scenario has me getting half of it written over the course of the summer, writing the second half for NaNoWriMo2020, and then polishing it for a release in the first half of 2021. I’m recording the more ambitious timeline here in the hopes of motivating myself.

-New covers for all seven Jaiya books. I am very fond of the premade covers I bought from Adrijus Guscia, of Rocking Book Covers. He’s an awesome, cooperative guy with great prices, and I highly recommend him to anyone whose genre and characters work with his art style. But I’ve had comments to the effect that the Jaiya covers don’t really reflect the characters inside, and that they’re not really appropriate to either the urban fantasy or paranormal romance genres. It’s time to fix that. The original Jaiya series will get this treatment first, ideally in the first quarter of 2020, in preparation for….

-A single-volume collection of all 3 novels in the original Jaiya series, ideally in the first quarter of 2020.

-New covers for the Ancestors of Jaiya will follow later in the year. This will be more difficult from a branding POV because this series is a family saga which progresses through time. They will need to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2020, however, to tie in with….

-The single-volume collection of all 4 novels in the Ancestors of Jaiya series, tentatively scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2020.
