Thank you to A Song of Joy for nominating me! I am afraid I don’t have the mental bandwidth at the moment to nominate other bloggers and invent questions for them, and it doesn’t feel right to just ask the skynets for a list of questions. But I can display the banner and answer the questions Song set me:
1. What are you reading?
I just finished Twelve Months, by Jim Butcher. Liked it better than the last couple of Dresden books FWIW.
2. Latest update on your publishing, or what book do you have out that’s relatively new, if applicable?
On preorder, I have Pride & Planetoids, a Jane Austen retelling which asks: “What if Mr. Darcy went around kabooming asteroids?” Coming May the 4th of this year!
3. Who is your favorite superhero or hero?
Oh, the usual suspects. Optimus Prime. Zorro. Hammer Films Van Helsing. Kevin McAllister. Mr. Darcy. Both Mr. Knightleys. Colonel Brandon. Colonel Mortimer. Dirty Harry Callahan. Sherlock Holmes. Audie Murphy. John Clark. Sir Percy Blakeney. Finrod Felagund, Beren One-hand, Eomer, Faramir and Aragorn.
4. What is your favorite art style? Art nouveau? Art Deco? Something I haven’t heard of?
Probably Art Deco at the moment.
5. Who is your favorite historical personage?
I go back and forth between Charles Martel and his grandson Charlemagne.
6. Are the Northern Lights cool or overrated?
We don’t see them very well where I live but the subtlety is part of the charm.
7. If you had a spirit animal, what would it be?
I regret to say that it is probably Baron Frankenstein from the first four movies in the Hammer Films series. Mostly that absolute inability to recognize a bad idea when one sees it.
8. Favorite military plane, chopper, rifle, or ship – fictional or not. GO!
9. Which anime are you currently watching and would you recommend it to a neophyte or not?
Spy x Family. It’s pretty normie friendly with few of the tropes non-anime people find off-putting about anime. I will say that if you’re not wired to giggle and melt at cute kid hijinks, the school-themed episodes can be tough sledding. They are for me.
10. Are you looking forward to any movies this year?
I’m looking forward to rewatching some old favorites, but I haven’t decided which ones yet. 🙂
11. What is your state flower?
I take the Fifth 😉
